“We are sheep of His pasture; We cannot outgrow His shepherding, just as you cannot navigate a future you did not create” (Jeremiah 29:11). Deciding to be a sheep of His pasture is salvation, and after salvation comes divine direction. As such, there is the need for divine direction to His intention in the beginning, called Eden. No culture or tradition can lead you there; only the One who created the garden can lead you.
Pastor Seyi Adekunle, State Pastor of Living Faith Church (Winners), Oke-Onitea, Òṣogbo, made this statement on Sunday, 14th September 2025, during the first service tagged Financial Fortune Banquet Service, which also doubled as the monthly communion service while ministering on the teaching series “Understanding the Benefits of Divine Direction Part 2a”, in line with the prophetic focus for the month themed The Lord is My Shepherd – Psalm 23:1-6.
Pastor Adekunle emphasised that every believer is looking for the way back to the Eden, where man fell short of his redemptive right and the only one who can lead man back into that redemptive right is Jesus – the Way (Isaiah 51:1-2).
Explaining why believers need divine direction, he noted that the Son of Man, Jesus, came to reconnect man to the blessings of Abraham. After God concluded the redemptive right of man following the fall of Adam (Genesis 3:15 & 24), the only way back is through Jesus.
Listing the benefits of divine direction, Pastor Adekunle said that divine direction secures supernatural restoration (Psalm 23:3). He added that Abraham, in Genesis 12:1-3, received divine direction to leave his father’s house and enjoyed a sevenfold restoration by heeding God’s direction. Another benefit of divine direction is supernatural supply, as the children of Israel experienced in Exodus 13:17-18. Although there was a shorter route to the Promised Land, God took them through a longer route, and they enjoyed supernatural supply all the way until they got there. “Every divine vision commits divine direction and enjoys divine provision. As long as God is the one leading you, He is committed to providing,” he said.
Another benefit of divine direction is that it secures a stress-free life (1 John 5:3). There is nothing He tells us to do that will stress us (Jeremiah 6:16-17).
Recounting his ordination experience, he said that when he and 89 others were about to be ordained, they were waiting for their letters of posting. When the letters came, only 40 out of 90 were posted, while the remaining 50 were told they had no LDC certificate and would not be posted until they went through the LDC course. He did not know what to do, as his former station had already held a send-off for him. While some got angry and left, only 10 remained behind. Later, another instruction came that those who wanted to take the course in Kaduna could stay, and the commission would cover all expenses for a year. God miraculously answered two of his prayers: not having to return home and having the first one year settled, which would have cost nothing less than ₦350,000. The Lord sponsored his vision, giving him a stress-free year without spending a dime.
Pastor Adekunle then explained the theme Financial Fortune, which the Sunday service was tagged as. He explained that financial fortune in the Kingdom is not luck but a covenant (Genesis 8:22). He asked why we must engage the covenant, noting that the economy is going through an economic holocaust where huge sums of money chase few goods. But by the covenant, just as Abraham prevailed during famine in Genesis 12:10 and 13:1-2, we too shall prevail.
He recounted that the Word of Faith Bible Institute (WOFBI) is a divine institution (1 Timothy 2:2). He recalled that a few days before the school commenced, the venue was not yet arranged. When Mummy asked Papa, he replied, “It’s your school.” Shortly after, God showed him a vision of a big church. Following God’s direction, he sent someone to the building, and there they met a man who said he was the caretaker and that God was the owner. When told it was needed for Bible School, the man said, “If it is for Bible School, then it is free.”
He highlighted that believers must be spiritually minded (Ephesians 1:3, 1 Corinthians 2:14) to come under the covenant. Being spiritually minded involves engaging tirelessly in seedtime and harvest (sowing and reaping), and also putting your hands to work, as it is the work of your hands that God blesses (Psalm 1:1-3). He encouraged seeking continuous guidance in endeavours and walking in financial integrity. He warned against financial games such as gambling, saying you cannot always win playing games, but you can always win by the covenant.
However, he concluded that whoever is not saved is not a candidate for divine direction, and that the next thing after salvation for a believer is divine direction. Jesus is the only way to Eden, where you get connected.
