The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced the resumption of petrol sales in Naira following the intervention of the Naira for Crude Technical Committee.
In a notice to marketers on Saturday, the refinery confirmed that customers can now place orders and make payments in Naira for both self-collection and free delivery of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at designated locations nationwide.
The development comes days after the refinery suspended Naira-denominated sales, a move that had triggered concerns in the downstream sector and pushed independent marketers to review pump prices upwards.
Industry sources said the suspension was tied to challenges surrounding foreign exchange requirements and crude oil pricing mechanisms, which had complicated transactions between Dangote refinery and its off-takers.
However, the committee—set up to encourage the use of the local currency in crude oil and petroleum product deals—brokered an understanding that paved the way for the refinery to reverse its decision.
In its message to customers, the refinery’s commercial unit stated:
“Dear Valued Customer, following the intervention of the Naira for Crude Technical Committee chairman, we are pleased to inform you of the resumption of PMS sales in Naira, commencing immediately. You may kindly proceed to place your orders in Naira for both self-collection and free delivery of PMS to the earlier advised locations across the country.”
