Speaker Osun Assembly, Declares MDAs’ Budget Defence Open

The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, on Wednesday, 26th November 2025, formally declared open the 2026 budget defence exercise for Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and Government Institutions in the state.

 

Speaking at the hallowed chamber of the Assembly , Egbedun described the commencement of the defence sessions as a crucial step in evaluating the proposed 2026 fiscal year budget, which outlines the administration’s priorities for the coming year.

 

“Today marks the beginning of our thorough deliberations and evaluations of the proposed budget, which sets out the priorities for the 2026 financial year,” he said.

 

The Speaker urged all participants to approach the exercise with diligence, thoughtfulness, and a spirit of collaboration, reiterating the commitment of the 8th Assembly to ensuring that the 2026 budget genuinely reflects the needs and aspirations of Osun citizens.

 

Egbedun further encouraged all Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and Government Institutions to be fully prepared to provide clear insights into their strategic plans and projected expenditures for the year.

 

In his remarks, the Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Olumide Fatunmise, commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his leadership and the visible achievements recorded across the state.

 

Hon. Fatunmise emphasized that the budget process goes beyond figures written on paper, describing it as “a covenant with the citizens of the state – a promise of prosperity, equity, and sustainable development.”

 

He urged all MDAs and government institutions to uphold transparency and accountability throughout their budget presentations and defence sessions.
