In this period of insecurity, Nigerians who who wish to travel long distance during the December/ January holidays to celebrate with families can use these tips to keep themselves safe.

We are aware that the country is not safe to travel by road and as the yuletide season approaches persons who want to have limited funds and cannot afford to tarvel by air should find these tips below helpful.

1. Try to use flight if you can. As we all know it’s the safest means of transportation at the moment.

2. If you can’t afford flight, enter a sedan 7 seater car, plus driver making 8. I’ve noticed that those type don’t usually have kidnap issues. It’s the 14 seater they seem to target.

3. Travel during the day. No night journey for now please.

4. Enter bus from a recognized park, so that there will be some sort of monitoring of the driver by the company . Recognized travel companies preferably. They will cost more but then your business will be monitored by the company. Don’t stand by the road looking for a bus going to your talravel destination because you want to cut cost.

5. Be on alert. Don’t go and sleep off in the car. Monitor the journey and the road along with the driver.

6. Save some funds in an account that you can’t easily transfer. Maybe open and deposit some funds in an online bank app but delete the app from your phone especially during travel. Or have funds in your dollar account.
