Popular gospel singer Bunmi Akinnanu, widely known as Omije Ojumi, has died.
Her death was announced on Tuesday in a statement issued by her family and shared via the Instagram page of her colleague, Alayo Melody.
Alayo Melody also posted a short video clip showing the late singer at the hospital where she passed away.
The statement read: “With great sadness, we announce the passing of Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye (Omije O jumi).
“She passed away on January 12, 2026, at a hospital in Lagos, Nigeria.
“May God grant her eternal rest.
Signed: Olawale Akinnaanu, for the family.”
Akinnanu’s death comes months after she appealed for prayers and divine healing while battling a severe leg ailment.
In a video that went viral at the time, the Omije Ojumi hitmaker was seen seated with her leg stretched out as a pastor prayed for her.
The late singer, who began her music journey at the age of 10, left a career in banking to pursue gospel music full-time.
She rose to fame with her hit song Omije Ojumi, which resonated widely with Nigerian Christians and became a regular feature in churches and homes across the country.
