Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced that all workers in the state would be entitled to a N10,000 top-up on their salary for a period of three months.
Makinde disclosed this at a programme held in the state’s capital, Ibadan, on Monday.
According to the governor, the top-up is necessary to cushion the effects of the fuel price hike, and it will begin in April, with a possible extension if the situation has not subsided.
The governor announced that all workers in Oyo State, including those at the local government level, would receive an additional N10,000 monthly as petrol and transportation support, starting from April and lasting for an initial period of three months, with the possibility of extension.
He added that the initiative would be implemented as a flat rate for all workers and disclosed that plans are underway to ensure that individuals outside the state workforce may also benefit from the support, noting that measures would be put in place to make the process inclusive.
He also stated that ensuring continuity remains a key priority as his administration approaches its final phase.
