Egbedun stated that his thoughts are with individuals and families who have been adversely affected, noting that moments such as this call for collective compassion and swift institutional response.
“The distress caused by this unfortunate occurrence is deeply felt. I extend my heartfelt sympathies to all victims and assure them that they are not alone in this difficult period,” he remarked.
The Speaker emphasised that the House of Assembly remains committed to supporting coordinated efforts aimed at addressing the immediate and long-term needs of those impacted.
He noted that legislative backing would be provided where necessary to strengthen intervention measures and ensure adequate assistance reaches affected residents.
He further urged emergency and public works agencies, particularly the Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA) and the Ministry of Works, to sustain ongoing response operations, including damage evaluation, environmental clean-up and restoration of normal movement within the affected areas.
Rt. Hon. Egbedun also called attention to the broader environmental implications of recurrent storms, encouraging citizens to adopt sustainable practices that reduce exposure to such hazards, while advocating stronger community awareness on climate-related risks.
He appealed for calm among residents and encouraged continued cooperation with authorities as recovery efforts progress.
