The lawmaker representing Obokun State Constituency in the current 8th Assembly, Adewumi Adeyemi, has commenced the much-anticipated Irekandu NECO Scholarship Examination across schools in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.
The initiative, aimed at supporting brilliant but indigent students preparing for the National Examination Council (NECO) examination, officially kicked off on Tuesday, May 13, 2026, with members of the Irekandu Scholarship Team moving round various secondary schools across the constituency for screening and examination exercises.
According to the timetable released by the organizers, the team visited ESa Oke Grammar School by 9am, followed by St. Joseph Grammar School, Esa Oke at 11am. The exercise also extended to Unity School, Imesi-Ile at noon and Imesi-Ile High School by 1pm.
The scholarship examination is scheduled to continue on Wednesday, May 14, 2026, with visits to Ilase Community High School, Ilase-Ijesa; Ilumefa Community High School, Idooko; Ifelodun Community Grammar School; Baptist High School, Ada-Owode; and Ipetu-Ile Community Grammar School, among others.
Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi reaffirmed his commitment to educational advancement and youth empowerment across Obokun Constituency. He noted that the scholarship scheme was designed to ease the financial burden on parents while encouraging academic excellence among students.
Residents and education stakeholders have commended the lawmaker for sustaining impactful educational interventions, describing the Irekandu NECO Scholarship Scheme as a commendable investment in the future of Obokun youths.
