Osun Governor rallies supporters at Freedom Park, insists Accord Party will be on ballot, urges massive mobilisation ahead of August 15 poll
Governor Ademola Adeleke on Tuesday declared confidence in his re-election bid, assuring supporters that the Accord Party will be on the ballot and that he will secure another term in office during the August 15 governorship election, while calling for sustained mobilisation across Osun State.
Speaking at a campaign gathering at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park in Osogbo, the governor addressed party members, supporters, and allied groups, describing the campaign season as “a divine journey to victory.” He urged supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation, insisting that democratic processes must be protected and votes allowed to count.
Adeleke reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to lawful political participation, declaring that “all lawful means are being deployed” to safeguard electoral rights. He charged supporters to remain active across polling units and maintain strong voter engagement ahead of the election.
On governance, the governor highlighted achievements of his administration since 2022, including reforms in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, water supply, digital economy development, fiscal transparency, and pension and salary debt reduction. He also cited improvements in state rankings across education performance, primary healthcare delivery, clean water access, hospital efficiency, and fiscal accountability.
Adeleke further stated that Osun State had reduced its debt stock significantly and improved transparency ratings under national assessments, while also expanding infrastructure development and local content participation.
On local government administration, the governor commended what he described as progress in resolving disputes, while urging security authorities to refrain from supporting what he termed “illegal occupation” of council secretariats. He also called for accountability regarding local government funds.
Receiving endorsements from various labour unions, professional groups, youth bodies, traders, farmers, and student associations, Adeleke assured new supporters of equal opportunity within the political structure of the Accord Party.
The governor unveiled a renewed five-point agenda for a second term, focusing on youth and workers’ welfare, infrastructure consolidation, agro-industrial expansion, improved access to health and education, and a more business-friendly environment for job creation.
Reiterating his political stance, Adeleke expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s anticipated re-election bid in 2027, describing the endorsement as “unshaken and total.”
He concluded with a call for peaceful mobilisation, urging supporters to remain law-abiding while defending their democratic rights, expressing confidence that continuity would prevail in Osun State.
