The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate in the 2026 Abuja Municipal Area Council election, Dr. Moses Paul Ogigi, has rejected the declared results, insisting he had already secured victory by 3 pm on Saturday.
Speaking on Arise News, Dr. Ogigi, who lost to the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), described the post-3 pm developments as “magic” that altered the outcome.
He criticised the conduct of the elections, citing the imposition of curfews, mutilation of results, vote buying, and harassment of ADC members.
“This election will be a defining moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey, not because it reflects the will of the people, but because it exposes the obstacles standing in its way,” he said.
“I came into this race believing in democracy and the resilience of the people of Abuja, hoping for a fresh start under the new INEC leadership.
“By 3pm, I had already won across the board, and then magic began to happen. It is disheartening to witness curfews, result manipulations, harassment of our members, and unprecedented levels of vote buying in this election.”
