Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has pledged to dualise the Ikire Junction–Apomu–Ikoyi road, signalling a major infrastructure push aimed at stimulating economic activity and improving connectivity in Isokan Local Government Area.

The governor made the commitment at the Apomu Day celebration held at ADC Grammar School, Apomu, where community leaders, political office holders and residents gathered to advance the town’s development agenda.

Adeleke said the road project would enhance commerce and mobility, stressing that rural and semi-urban communities remain central to his administration’s inclusive development strategy.

He reaffirmed his government’s resolve to extend critical infrastructure to all parts of the state, noting that balanced development would drive long-term prosperity.

The Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Lere Oyewumi, representing Osun West Senatorial District, also underscored the importance of sustained development, assuring residents of continued support for growth initiatives within the district.

In a major highlight of the event, the President-General of the Apomu Descendants Union, National and Diaspora, Dr Jide Babalola, unveiled a N250 million Community Endowment Fund designed to finance priority projects in the town. He explained that the initiative would focus on completing the ultra-modern palace, youth empowerment programmes and other critical infrastructure.

The fundraising effort attracted strong backing from community stakeholders. Members of the Apomu Development Union collectively contributed N25 million, while the member representing Ayedaade, Irewole and Isokan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Lanre Oladebo, pledged another N25 million.

Chairman of Isokan Local Government Area, Goke Odetunde, assured residents of continued political support for the town’s development aspirations.

The Alapomu of Apomu, Oba Kayode Afolabi, described the celebration as doubly significant as it coincided with his sixth coronation anniversary. He commended indigenes for their unity and dedication to the town’s progress, expressing confidence that sustained cooperation would accelerate development.

The colourful event featured cultural displays and a musical performance by Fuji artiste Saheed Osupa, reflecting Apomu’s rich heritage and shared commitment to growth.
