Nigerian rapper and rights advocate, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has raised fresh concerns over the Federal Government’s silence on the fate of the gunmen behind the abduction of 38 worshippers of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
In a pointed reaction on his X handle on Sunday, Falz queried why government statements focused solely on the successful rescue without offering clarity on arrests, neutralisation, or ongoing manhunts linked to the perpetrators.
He insisted that Nigerians deserve full disclosure, noting that rescue updates without accountability measures fall short of public expectation.
“THIS DOES NOT CUT IT. Where are the abductors?? Were they killed? How many arrests were made???” he wrote, adopting a hard-line stance reflective of growing public scepticism over how insecurity is managed.
His comments surfaced shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the rescue of the 38 worshippers, alongside 51 students earlier abducted from a Catholic school in Niger State. The President had praised security agencies for the coordinated operations across the North Central and reiterated his administration’s commitment to securing lives and property.
However, Falz’s intervention underscores a persistent national frustration: while rescue operations are often celebrated, updates on the arrest, trial, or neutralisation of culprits remain scarce.
Opposition figure Peter Obi, only days earlier, had warned that Nigeria is “persistently bleeding” from unchecked violence, further amplifying calls for decisive accountability.
Last week’s mass abductions in Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara states reignited concerns about the resilience of criminal networks and the government’s capacity to dismantle them.
