The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Wednesday, demanded the immediate removal of the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, accusing him of undermining constituted authority.
Yusuf made the call at the Kofar Mata Stadium, Kano, during an event marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
The governor alleged that the police command under Bakori’s watch deliberately withdrew personnel from providing security at the state’s official celebration, despite directives he personally gave to the commissioner.
“The Commissioner of Police has embarrassed us by his conduct,” Yusuf declared. “His action is unprofessional, unethical, and contrary to what is expected of a security chief on such a historic day for the people of Kano and indeed for Nigeria as a whole.”
Describing the commissioner’s action as a breach of protocol, Yusuf maintained that such conduct was unacceptable and could hinder effective coordination of security in the state.
He further stated, “On behalf of myself as chief security officer, and on behalf of the good people of Kano State, I call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori today.”
