Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has ended his leave ahead of schedule to personally preside over the coronation of the Olubadan-designate, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.

The governor, who had handed over the reins of government to his deputy, Bayo Lawal, on August 29 with a resumption date of September 29, informed the House of Assembly on Thursday of his immediate return. Lawmakers welcomed the notice and pledged their support.

Makinde’s early resumption is tied to the historic event scheduled for Friday, when he will present the staff of office to Ladoja at the grand finale of the coronation ceremonies. The rites, which began on Monday, have drawn significant attention within and beyond Oyo State.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, in a goodwill message to the incoming monarch, urged Ladoja to separate the duties of the throne from politics, describing the Olubadan stool as a sacred trust that must be safeguarded.

The coronation is expected to attract dignitaries, traditional rulers, and political leaders nationwide, underscoring the prestige of the Olubadan institution as one of the most revered in Yorubaland.
