The Osun State House of Assembly has passed the Osun State Multi-Door Courthouse Establishment Bill, 2025 into law after it scaled its third reading during the plenary.
The passage followed the re-presentation of the report by the House Committee on Judiciary, Legal Matters, Human Rights and Petitions, which reviewed the provisions and recommendations contained in the bill.
The legislation seeks to establish a Multi-Door Courthouse in the state to provide Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms alongside conventional court proceedings.
When operational, the scheme is expected to reduce the burden on regular courts, accelerate dispensation of justice, improve access to legal redress, and minimize citizens’ frustrations associated with lengthy trials.
According to the committee report, the facility will serve as a focal point for mediation, arbitration and out-of-court settlements. The initiative also aligns with global standards, encourages investor confidence, and allows experts in dispute resolution to participate in justice delivery.
Hon. Simeon Popoola who presented the report of the committee, appreciated the Speaker and the whole house for the accelerated passage of the Bill.
In a related development, the House also passed the Osun State Road Traffic and Vehicles Inspection Services Bill, 2025 after the report of the Committee on Public Works and Transport was laid and adopted.
The Chairman of the committee, Hon. Abiola Ibrahim, expressed that, the bill will ensure that all vehicles on roads are road worthy with fines and sanctions in place for those found wanting.
The number one lawmaker, RT. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, expressed that clean copies of both bills will be forwarded to the Executive Governor of the state, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, for his final assent
