The Osun State House of Assembly has passed Quartet major bills targeted at the growth of the state of Osun.
The following Bill are: Osun State Sports Commission Establishment Bill, 2025; Osun State Communal Crises Management and Peace Building Bill, 2025; Osun State Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gun Shots Bill, 2025; and Osun State Start-Up Bill, 2025.
Earlier, the Chairman of the House Committee on Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Economy, Hon. Adeyemi Adewumi, and the Chairman of the House Committee on Youths, Sports and Special Needs, Hon. Abiola Awoyeye, presented the reports of their committees’ findings on the Osun State Start-Up Bill, 2025, and the Osun State Sports Commission Establishment Bill, 2025, respectively. Being Executive Bills, they were laid before and accepted by the General Assembly.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, stated that clean copies of the bills would be forwarded to the Executive Governor of the State for his assent. Upon the Governor’s approval, the aforementioned bills would become laws.
In the same vein, the Osun State Water Users (Association) and Irrigation Bill passed its first reading.
Meanwhile, the House dissolved into the Committee of the Whole for further deliberations and amendments to the Osun State Emergency Management Agency Amendment (1) Bill, 2025.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, earlier welcomed Honourable Members back from the recess, commending their promptness and responsiveness to various state matters during the break. He said this was a testament to their dedication and commitment to the progress of Osun State.
Egbedun expressed hope that the legislators’ renewed energy would reflect in their preparations for the 2026 Draft Budget Presentation of the State, which will take place soon.
He also appreciated the lawmakers for their unwavering commitment and service to their respective constituencies.
