Osun Assembly stamped a Bill totightens control over LGA accounts

As part of detail process included in passing a bill, Osun State House of Assembly has on Monday through the Chairman House Committee on Public Account, Hon Bamidele Rasheed representing Osogbo State Constituency presented the report on Osun State Local Government Amendment No 2 Bill 2026.

 

It’s a private member Bill aimed to control Financial transparency and accountability, enhance oversight & due process, improve fiscal management, thereby creating a clearer framework for opening, managing, and operating LG accounts, making it easier to track revenues, enforce compliance, and boost internally generated revenue (IGR) across the 30 LGAs.

 

Having listened to the presentation, the majority leader, Hon Kofoworola Adewumi representating Ede North State Constituency moved motion for its adoption and was seconded by Hon Kasope Abolarin of Ifedayo state Constituency.

 

Thereafter, the bill, Osun State

Local Government Amendment No 2 Bill 2026 scaled third reading, majority leader, Hon Babajide Kofoworola and seconded by Hon Olujimi Asagade.

 

Speaker of the Parliament, Rt Hon Adewale Egbedun said clean copies would be produced in due course and forwarded to the Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke for assent.
