Osun NUJ Unveils New Executive, Ushers in Dynamic Leadership

The Nigerian Union of Journalists, Osun State Council has elected new set of executives to pilot the affairs of the union for the next three years.

 

At the keenly contested election on Tuesday at the premises of the Press Centre in Osogbo, Adeyemi Aboderin, from the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, emerged as Chairman.

 

Aboderin, an immediate past Secretary of the Council, was elected emerged after defeating his opponent, Sofiu Abdulganiyu of the Information Chapel.

 

The election Presiding Officer, Ronke Samo, Vice Chairman, NUJ South West Zone who announced the result, revealed that Aboderin polled 136 votes as against Abdulganiyu who polled 98 votes.

 

Also, Olalekan Akindoju of Rave FM, Osogbo, polled 122 votes to emerge as Secretary of the union.

 

He contested with Lateef Dada of the Osun NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel, who polled 112 votes.

 

Daily Impact Nigeria reports that 233 NUJ members were accredited for the election.

 

Saheed Adegboye who contested for the position of Treasurer was unopposed and he polled 232 votes with one void vote to emerge.

 

The Chairman of the NUJ Electoral Committee, Victor Adeoti, commended Union members for their display of decorum and civility before, during and after the poll.

 

He expressed gratitude for the support and encouragement he received from stakeholders which later brought about a smooth, peaceful and transparent electoral process for the union.
