Long queues have returned to filling stations across Òṣogbo and Ibadan as the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, now sells between N1,020 and N1,110 per litre, industry sources confirmed on Friday.

The sharp increase is already reverberating through the city’s transport sector. Commuters are bearing the brunt of higher fares, with intra-city transport costs climbing steadily.

According to reports, a korope driver in Òṣogbo comments that filling station no longer have their fuel prices on the price board as you get to know the price at the fuel pumps.

Meanwhile, the fare from Molete to Odo-Ona has risen from N500 to N600, while the New Garage to Iwo Road route now attracts N800, up from N700. Reports indicate that similar adjustments have been implemented across other major routes in the city.

Motorists are responding by carrying jerry cans in a bid to secure fuel, reflecting growing anxiety over availability. Many filling stations, which used to open early for business, have reportedly shut their gates, leaving residents with limited access and increasing the likelihood of long wait times.
