The All Progressives Congress (APC), Osun State Chapter has declared total support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
During the event held on Saturday In Osogbo, the State capital, the party also formally received five members of the National Assembly who were elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defecting lawmakers include Senators Francis Fadahunsi representing Osun East and Olubiyi Fadeyi representing Osun Central, as well as members of the House of Representatives Wole Oke, Sanya Omirin and Taokeek Ajilesoro.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola described the defection of the lawmakers as an indication of their alignment with the administration of President Tinubu and their commitment to the political development of Osun State.
He emphasised that the APC operates as a united political platform and noted that the new members would strengthen the party’s determination to regain political control of the state.
The minister highlighted the federal government’s economic policies, noting that the Tinubu administration inherited economic challenges that required decisive policy actions.
He stated that reforms introduced by the administration were already producing measurable outcomes.
Also speaking, the APC governorship candidate in Osun , Bola Oyebamiji, acknowledged the economic and governance reforms introduced by President Tinubu.
He stated that the reforms were positioning the country towards long-term development and stressed the importance of sustaining the administration beyond the current tenure.
In his address, the Osun APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, assured that both existing members and newly admitted members of the party would be treated fairly and equally.
He stressed the need for unity within the party as preparations continue for the 2026 governorship election in the state.
According to him, “We have no doubt that your defection into the APC today would translate into the improvement of our status and the realisation of our aspirations in both 2026 and 2027 as your surpassed contributions to the upliftment of the party have been verifiably felt even before your formal defection of today.”
Lawal maintained that the party remains focused on regaining political leadership in Osun State, citing concerns over the management of the state’s affairs in recent years.
The endorsement and reception ceremony took place at was coordinated by the APC National Secretary, Dr Ajibola Basiru.
