Son of the former Osun State Governor, Femi Oyetola, has withdrawn from the contest for the Osun Central Senatorial seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the party’s primary election.

Femi Oyetola announced his withdrawal in an official statement dated May 18, 2026, addressed to the Osun State Chairman of the APC.

Femi said the decision followed extensive consultations and interventions by party leaders.

He explained that he stepped down in the interest of the unity, stability, and electoral success of the APC in Osun State.

According to him, the decision was difficult considering the support, sacrifices, and encouragement he received from youths and stakeholders across Osun Central who backed his aspiration.

The APC chieftain noted that many supporters voluntarily purchased his nomination form and stood by his ambition to see a new generation contribute actively to governance.

Femi, however, stated that party members must place collective interest above personal ambition in order to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.

He appreciated his supporters, party faithful, and political associates for their solidarity, loyalty, and belief in his leadership throughout the period of his aspiration.

The politician further assured that he remains committed to the ideals and vision of the APC and would continue working with party leaders, members, and youths toward strengthening the party.

He also urged his supporters to remain calm, united, and steadfast behind the leadership and decisions of the party, describing his withdrawal as a sacrifice aimed at preserving party cohesion.

Femi added that the development should not be seen as the end of their collective aspiration but another demonstration of discipline, loyalty, and dedication to the progress of the APC.
