The Osun State House of Assembly has urged all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure prudence and transparency in implementing their budgets.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Olumide Fatumise, made the appeal during the ongoing 2026 budget defence at the Hallow Chamber of the Osun State House Assembly (OSHA) in Osogbo.
Mr Fatumise stressed that MDAs must embrace the fear of God and show genuine love for the people of the state through their actions during and after the defence exercise. He also noted that it is the responsibility of government to deliver the dividends of democracy to the citizens.
Lawmakers, in their separate remarks, encouraged MDA representatives to be well-prepared and accurate in their presentation of facts and figures. They commended the Ministry of Cooperative and Empowerment for its support to grassroots communities across the state.
During his presentation, the Commissioner for Energy, Mr Festus Adeyemo, praised the Assembly for the recently passed Osun Electricity Bill 2025. He appealed to the state government to give the bill speedy assent so the Ministry of Energy can operate at full capacity.
After reviewing the submissions, the Committee considered the budget proposals of the Ministry of Rural Development and Community Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Cooperative and Empowerment, Osun State Micro-Credit Agency, Osun State Investment Promotion Agency, and the Ministry of Energy.
