The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward One, Ibokun, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State has announced the indefinite suspension of a former member of the State House of Assembly, Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, citing allegations of misconduct and actions said to be inimical to party cohesion.
The decision followed a meeting of ward executives, leaders and members, where concerns were reportedly raised about internal unity and discipline. The outcome was conveyed in a letter addressed to the Osun State Chairman of the party, Mr Tajudeen Lawal, dated January 29, 2026.
In the letter, jointly endorsed by 18 ward executives and five leaders, the ward accused the former lawmaker of allegedly appropriating an Executive Assistant slot and a sum of N5.6 million without authorisation. The signatories claimed the funds were intended for ward leaders and alleged that Mr Oyintiloye had already secured a personal EA slot through a third party while holding a federal appointment.
The ward further accused him of engaging in activities capable of stoking division, including the organisation of parallel meetings, and cited what it described as his prolonged absence from ward meetings and political activities for more than three years.
They also alleged that despite benefitting from several political appointments, Mr Oyintiloye had failed to make meaningful financial or material contributions to ward activities.
“In view of these issues and his consistent lack of engagement with ward affairs, decisive disciplinary action has become unavoidable,” the letter stated.
Consequently, the ward declared that Mr Oyintiloye was suspended indefinitely and should cease to represent the ward at any level. Nonetheless, the leaders said they remained open to intervention from higher party authorities, stressing that their overriding interest was the unity and electoral success of the APC going forward.
Reacting, Mr Oyintiloye dismissed the suspension as invalid and politically motivated. In a telephone conversation, he described the move as the handiwork of disgruntled individuals whom he claimed were not recognised ward executives and were allegedly working against the party’s interests.
He denied all allegations, insisting that he neither controlled any EA slot nor had access to the funds mentioned. According to him, the claims were fabricated to tarnish his reputation, adding that he had already reported the matter to the state party leadership.
Questioning the process, he argued that any disciplinary action should follow established party procedures rather than media pronouncements. He also accused one of the signatories of previous misconduct and insisted that he remained a loyal and respected member of the APC.
Mr Oyintiloye urged party members and the public to disregard what he described as a baseless suspension, expressing confidence that the state leadership would address the matter in line with party rules and traditions.
